Yennayer 2976 – 2026
On this first day of the Amazigh year 2976-2026, the Congrès Mondial Amazigh / Amazigh World Congress's first thought is for all those unjustly imprisoned due to pure anti-Amazigh racism. We are thinking particularly of the hundreds of Kabyles, At-Mzab, and Chwis in Algeria, and Rifians in Morocco, all arbitrarily detained. We also stand in solidarity with the victims of the abominable massacres committed by the Malian army and the mercenaries of Afrika Corps in Azawad.
The Congrès Mondial Amazigh / Amazigh World Congress (CMA) salutes and pays a vibrant tribute to the Amazigh women and men who, despite threats, intimidation, and injustice, strive to resist oppression and the deprivation of their rights. For its part, the CMA relentlessly pursues its mission of bringing the Amazigh cause to the forefront of the international stage. We are convinced that international law, even if it is widely flouted by states, remains a crucial support for the Amazigh cause. Building bridges with other peoples is also a path that the CMA must cultivate and strengthen in a spirit of solidarity and friendship.
The CMA welcomes the fact that Yennayer, the Amazigh New Year, is celebrated by all Amazigh communities and peoples in the countries of Tamazgha. However, it calls on the Amazigh people to remain vigilant in order to prevent Yennayer from being marred by acts that disrespect its Amazigh authenticity and the human values it embodies.
The CMA also reiterates that the state borders in Tamazgha are artificial and colonial borders and demands their immediate opening. Border closures are particularly unjust and often have dramatic consequences for local populations. The Amazigh people must be able to move freely, without visas or any other form of restriction, throughout all the countries of Tamazgha (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Siwa and Canary Islands).
The Congrès Mondial Amazigh / Amazigh World Congress wishes everyone good health, unwavering determination, and much courage to make the new year 2976/2026 a year of reclaiming all the rights of the Amazigh people.
